The Human Advantage: Why Your Personal Brand Matters More Than Ever in the Age of AI

I’ve been creating content online since 2005—long before “personal brand” became a marketing buzzword and before most of us could imagine asking AI to write a blog post, create an image or brainstorm a social media strategy.

I’ve watched the digital landscape evolve from blogs and traditional websites to Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok and now AI-powered content creation. And if all of those changes have taught me one thing, it’s this:

The more content we create, the more valuable the human behind the content becomes.

AI Can Create Content. It Can’t Be You.

Let’s be clear: I use AI. I think it’s an incredibly useful tool for marketers, writers and business owners. It can help us brainstorm ideas, organize thoughts, research topics and work more efficiently.

But AI doesn’t have your experiences.

It doesn’t know what it was like to build your business from the ground up. It doesn’t have the funny story about how you landed your biggest client, the lesson you learned from a career mistake or the particular perspective you’ve developed after 20 years in your industry.

Those are the things that make your content worth reading.

AI can help you communicate your expertise. It shouldn’t replace the personality and perspective that make that expertise uniquely yours.

Your Personal Brand Is More Than Your Social Media

Personal branding isn’t simply having a polished LinkedIn profile or posting regularly on Instagram. It’s the collection of experiences, expertise, personality and values that shape how people perceive you.

For entrepreneurs, executives, Realtors, consultants and other professionals, that perception matters.

People don’t just hire businesses. They hire people they trust.

And in an increasingly crowded digital world, your personal brand gives potential clients a reason to remember you—and ultimately, a reason to choose you.

So, What Is My Personal Brand?

If I’m asking you to think about your personal brand, it seems only fair that I define mine.

I’ve always loved storytelling. That started in college, when I earned my journalism degree and discovered that I love finding the story and telling it in a way that makes people care.

Today, I’m a Nashville native, girl mom, content marketer and communications professional with more than 30 years of experience in marketing, public relations and executive communications. I’m also a proud pet mom, lover of live music, good wine and travel—and someone who genuinely enjoys connecting with people and hearing their stories.

Those things aren’t separate from my professional brand. They’re part of it.

My experience gives me credibility. My love of storytelling shapes how I communicate. My personality and perspective make my voice recognizable.

That combination is my personal brand. And no AI tool can replicate it.

Use AI to Amplify Your Voice, Not Replace It

The smartest approach to AI isn’t to resist it. It’s to use it strategically.

Let AI help you brainstorm. Let it help you organize your ideas. Let it take some of the tedious work off your plate.

But bring your stories, your opinions, your expertise and your voice to the conversation.

That’s where the magic happens.

I’ve spent more than 30 years working in communications, marketing, public relations and content—and I’ve seen plenty of technologies change the way we communicate. The tools will continue to evolve.

But people will always connect with people.

And that may be the most important reason to invest in your personal brand now.
